We welcome you to Cork & Canvas. When we opened our doors we started out offering canvas painting classes but soon realized our community needed more options. To answer those needs we began offering custom wood sign workshops as well as ceramic painting and fused glass art. We want to be your "go-to" place for all things DIY and creative. Our studio located on the downtown square in Huntsville, TX and offers a relaxing and creative atmosphere for you to foster all of your DIY skills. It is our goal to guide and instruct you so that you leave our studio with a custom piece that you will be proud to display.
First of all, here at Cork & Canvas we are flexible! We can customize any class or workshop to meet your needs. We are a locally owned small business with no one else to answer to but YOU! We are constantly looking at ways to add new and exciting classes to our studio. If there is something you want to try, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
CANVAS PAINTING: this is our namesake class. We offer instructor led classes as well as Open Studio classes where you bring your inspiration and we provide all of the materials.
CUSTOM WOOD SIGN MAKING: While we do offer a wide selection of designs, customization is easy and we will make custom stencils just for you. Don't see a design you're looking for? Just let us know.
CERAMIC PAINTING: We have a large selection of pottery pieces ready for you to come paint. Once painted they are glazed and fired in the studio.
FUSED GLASS ART: Select a blank glass "canvas" to create your colorful piece of art and transform it into a sun catcher, a coaster, shallow dish or even a night light. Once you complete your masterpiece we fire it in the kiln to fuse it all together.
DIY TO GO KITS: All of our classes come with a DIY take home kit option. All materials will be provided for you to enjoy a night of crafting at home.
PAINT @ HOME EXPERIENCES: All of our daily painting and wood sign making classes are also available virtually with live instruction, just like you were in the studio.
PRIVATE EVENTS: We love parties at Cork & Canvas! We are the perfect answer for your office parties, team building, bachelorette parties, birthday parties or any event that you want to make sure your guests leave with a memory they will cherish and a piece of art to take home.Thank you from the whole team at Cork & Canvas!
TARA:
I love my kids, my cats, and how being creative allows self expression with no limits. If I have the privilege of teaching a class you take, I will never tell you what you are doing is wrong because there is no wrong when it comes to art. I want you to walk away remembering the fun you had, and feeling satisfied about the artwork you created.
DANNY:
I have been studying art since high school and graduated with a degree in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and drawing from Sam Houston State; although I've chosen not to study it further, art is my hobby and passion! My favorite mediums are oil paint on wood and charcoal on paper.
JOSILYN:
Howdy! I’m a twenty-two-year-old college graduate going into higher education for my Masters in Library Science. Not Art… I know. Art was my first passion and the answer to all of the“ What do you want to be when you grow up?” questions were always the same. An Artist. I have been painting since before I can even remember. My medium: Acrylic on canvas. <3
AVEN:
Hi! I’m Aven, I’m a student at SHSU pursuing a BFA in Art Education. I love to draw and paint and have for pretty much my entire life. I love to see the creativity that comes out when people try art for the first time!
SALTER:
Hi, I’m Salter! I’m a Studio Art major at SHSU and I have experience working in art studios and hosting birthday parties/classes. I love drawing, painting, and anything to do with clay! In addition to art, I am a published author working on my third novel and I love making jewelry and gardening when I have the time. My two kitties are my loyal artist assistants – even though they love stepping in paint and rolling in charcoal.
Thank you for visiting our website. I moved to Huntsville in 1976 and graduated from both HHS and SHSU. I have always loved everything crafty. I used to go with my grandmother to a little pottery shop out on FM 1696 and we would paint all kinds of figurines, Christmas Trees, kitchen items - you name it. I studied art at SHSU where it was my minor when I graduated. Growing up here I felt like Huntsville needed a place to go for something fun to do without having to drive to Conroe or College Station so 2016 I opened Cork & Canvas. We appreciate everyone that walks through our doors and if you haven't been in, please come see what we have to offer.
